This would be my first time on the Kingston Peak Trail, a fun day outing in the mountains just West of Denver. We used the Barbour Fork trail (off the Peak to Peak Highway) to connect with Kingston Peak trail proper. A fun relaxing summer day up in the hills with friends. Doesn’t get much better!
At the Barbour Fork trail head airing down and catching up.
My pal Shawn.
A nice morning drive through the Aspens.
Most of Barbour Fork is through the forest, narrow and at times off camber.
It was a tight fit for the bigger Land Cruiser wagons.
First good views of the day.
Shawn and his trusty FJ60 Land Cruiser.
Back into the forest.
Climbing higher on the Kingston Peak trail.
This section always seems to be a bit muddy.
Views from our lunch spot.
Little Echo Lake.
James Peak.
Would have enjoyed checking this old mine out..
Back on the trail and finishing the climb towards Kingston Peak. The road reaches an elevation of 12,050ft.
Shawn getting a pic of the afternoon storms.
One last hill climb before descending down to the town of Alice, CO.
Some good views of Loch Lomond at the top of the second hill climb.
At the Loch Lomond overlook.
Stopped to check out some old Bristle Cone Pine forests.
Shawn getting a good laugh at the street sign. Wish I could remember what it said….
