After an exceptionally long and cold winter- One day in February while doing inventory at work it was -10 deg. Another, it was so cold the washer fluid was freezing. I was definitely ready to escape Denver and enjoy a week out in the desert for my clubs annual Cruise Moab event.
To kick off the week, I headed out early with a few friends from the club for our “Pre Cruise Moab wanderings”. Sadly I wasn’t able to drive my 4runner out for this trip. This past Winter and Spring, I had my pals over at Envision Fabrication build a rear bumper for me. Unfortunately, while they were building the rear bumper they notice a good size leak coming from the truck. Justin thought a possible head gasket leak. With that news, I decided to not drive the 4runner out and possibly make things worse. So I hopped in with my pal Matt. After a night in Yellow Cat Country, we headed over E-Hill to Devils Kitchen for two awesome nights. From Devils Kitchen, we headed out of Canyonlands via S.O.B Hill and Bobby’s hole ending the night at South Spring in Beef Basin. Snow would block our main rout out of Beef Basin the next morning, so it was back over Bobby’s Hole, S.O.B and E Hill’s before ending the night in Hertz Draw.
Back in Moab, I picked up my rental caddy from the Home City (Enterprise) in town. Took a drive up to Deadhorse Point, had a great vendor night- almost sold out on Cruise Moab posters, then had another great trail run on Hells Revenge with my pals from Proffitts Resurection Land Cruisers. Saturday ended up being a day spent with good friends. Breakfast in town, a trip up into the La Sals to check out a friends ranch, dinner at the Moab Brewery then over to a friends BnB for cocktails.
I probably say this every Cruise Moab, but man was it needed!
