Friday I joined up with my Pal Jeremiah and the rest of the gang from Proffitt’s Resurection Land Cruisers to run Hells Revenge. They Lead Hells Revenge every year for Cruise Moab and it’s always a blast Having missed last years run I was looking forward to the days outing. Our group for the day had a good mix of Toyotas.
Other then every one seeming to struggle a little on Hells Gate, there were no real issues with the group. We opted to pass on the Escalator and Tip Over Challenge. This was the first time for me for running Hells Revenge with the new exit. Definitely quicker, but could see this being a bottleneck if running on a busy trail day. A few from the group ran the optional Staircase obstacle. Once off the trail, we headed back to Spanish Trails to get ready for the Dinner and Raffle. It’s always great seeing everyone attending the event together for the dinner and raffle. Like usual, I didn’t win anything. But still had a blast. After the raffle we headed to camp. Hanging around the fire well into the night.
Saturday, turned into a wonderful day. I didn’t get any pics. But it was a really great day hanging out with wonderful friends. First having breakfast at the Jailhouse Café, then spent most of the late morning checking out a friends ranch in the La Sal’s while around some great company. That evening, we had a great dinner at the Moab Brewery sharing stories and laughs. To end the night, we headed over to our friend Matt’s BNB for a few cocktails. A truly wonderful way to end a great Cruise Moab.
Sunday morning, I dropped the rental Cadi off at Enterprise, hopped in with my friends Dan and Nancey and we headed home.
Woke up to some fine clouds to start the day:).
Jeremiah giving the ever important drivers meeting before starting off for the trail.
Making our way along Hells Revenge.
I got to ride in this fine custom FJ-40 all day:)
A typical scene for the day. Lots of Land Cruisers and Slick Rock.
Desert in bloom.
Enjoying a little side obstacle. We had a good mix of Toyotas for the day.
Nicely built Pig (FJ55).
Climbing up Hells Gate.
Being a Friday, we had a good size crowd as the group made the climb up Hells Gate.
Took a couple of try’s ( and a winch) for the pig to climb up the gate.
Nicely built 200 series Land Cruiser.
Jeremiah spotting the Mega Cruise up Hells Gate. It always makes this obstacle look easy.
Fell into the hole half way up the gate. Needed a pull.
Jeremiah watching on as the group makes it’s way through the trail.
Typical scene while on Hells Revenge:).
Always a fun drop on Hells. Being hard to see when you come up to it, Red Rock Four Wheelers of Moab has painted lines that you line your tires up to before dropping down.
Jeremiah climbing up the Staircase.
The pig getting a little tippy.
Seemed everyone lifted a wheel on this spot.
Dinosaur tracks on Hells Revenge.
Some great evening light on the cliffs.
Friday night’s dinner and raffle. Of course I didn’t win anything:(.
