Henry Mountains Summer 2009. Act 1: Making my way into the Henry’s

I headed out after work on Thursday, making it as far as Rabbit Valley, just west of Grand Junction and before the Utah boarder for the night.

Not a bad way to wake up on a Friday morning:).

Sunrise over Rabbit Valley.

Originally created by Ewin T. Wolverton, you can now find this mill at the BLM office in Hanksville, UT. Chasing a 20 year old dream, Erwin built this mill in the Henry’s while searching for a lost Spanish Gold.

View of the Henry’s from just outside Hanksville, UT.

Climbing higher into the Henry’s.

Wildflowers abundant.

A happy camper.

Yellow Columbines along the Bull Creek Pass Road.

A great batch of Colorado Colombines.

Passing through an old burn.

My favorite camp within the Henry’s. On the west side, at a spot called “Nasty Flats”. A perfect spot within the tall aspens.

Looking back towards South Summit Ridge.

Mt. Pennell to the South.

Looking North.

Looking NW.

Such a fine spot among the aspens.

Evening sets in.

End.
