Hole in the Wall, June 2013.

With the fall “Outlaws Run” planned to be ending at Outlaws Cave and Hole in the Wall for 2013, I headed out for a long weekend, early summer run with my pal Shawn to check out both areas. Hole in the Wall was a significant stop along the “Outlaw Trail”, used heavily by Butch Cassidy and the Wild Bunch. The “Hole” in the wall is more a break in the red cliff allowing the outlaws to move rustled cattle through. Outlaw Cave, was another spot used to hide away, located at the bottom of the canyon created by the Middle Fork of the Powder River. The more I follow Butch Cassidy and the “Wild Bunch”, the more I realize they picked some mighty fine country to hide out.

Act 1: North through the Bighorns to Hole in the Wall.

Act 2: Outlaw Cave and night in the Laramie MTNS.
