Hole in the Wall, June 2013. Act 1: North through the Big Horns to Hole in the Wall

After our first visit to Hole in the Wall country back in the fall of 2009, I’d been wanting to get back and check out the country during the warmer months. Since we were already heading back to the area in the fall of 2013, I decided a summer run to Hole in the Wall would be perfect. My pal Shawn joined me for this long weekend adventure.

After getting off work mid day Thursday, I meet up with Shawn in north Denver, where after some driving, we arrived at camp around midnight. Woke up the next morning to a beautiful summer day.

A morning stroll around camp.

Mornings warmth.

Even though we didn’t spend much time, a fine camp in the Big Horns.

Back on the road and making our way to Hole in the Wall.

Beautiful morning for a drive.

We came across this old abandoned car. Spent some time photographing it.

Came across this historical marker.

Some fine country.

Skelator. Such a fun rig.

Getting closer to Hole in the Wall.

Passing by some old ranch buildings..

Enjoying a nice walk along the trail to Hole in the Wall.

Early summer blooming.

Hole in the Wall. It’s not a “Hole in the Wall”, more a break in the wall allowing access to the other side for cattle and horses. A favorite spot for Butch Cassidy and his “Wild Bunch”.

Some fine views.

Almost to “Hole in the Wall”.

Vies from the top.

Making our way back out from Hole in the Wall.

Having some fun with “Panning”.

Evening light on the red wall.
